UPCOMING EVENTS
Hi everyone, I held my first class of Wine 101 last night at the Bay Leaf, and it went over really well. The wines showed fantastic, and I think everyone left with a better understanding of how wine is made, and the myriad decisions that winemakers face going from vine to bottle. I so firmly believe that this class sets the tone for all the rest of the "Develop your Palate" classes that I want to offer it again for the many of you that wanted to attend last nights class but couldn't. In July I will start other seminars. In the planning stages 1. the many styles of Sauvignon Blanc 2. Red wine fruit component seminar 3. white wine fruit component seminar 4. Zinfandel: the many faces of Zin 5. Pricing structure of wine: Do you get what you pay for?
I am pouring the same 6 wines, three red and three white, that I poured for last nights class. The goal is to educate you on the broad spectrum of winemaking. Although we will be tasting six wines, this class emphasizes more the general knowledge of winemaking then the particulars of these individual wines. Once you understand this general knowledge all the rest of the classes will make more sense.

Hello all I have a couple of dates lined up for the summer that I'm really excited about. I think this will be a great kick off for the beer group. Its also a good way for me to have a date night with the wife and write it off as a work expense. All the while she thinks I'm being creative. Don't tell her. June 27th starting at 6:30 will be a beer tasting social extravaganza held at Dempsey's (623 Vermont next to the post office). Included will be a sampling of the following great summer beers paired with a cheeseburger, chips and your choice of condiments. North Coast Scrimshaw Pilsner

For only $20 you will receive a drink coupon good for a 6oz sampling of the six beers and a full bottle of your favorite to go with your burger. This will be a casual tasting with emphasis on mingling and having a good time. Its a perfect way to start off your Friday night. Please respond to this email or come by the store to make your reservation. Cut off for reservations will be Saturday June 21st at 3pm. July 16th will be a beer dinner at Pachamamas. A lot of you have been to the wine tastings at Pachamamas before and know what your taste buds are in for. Now throw out the wine and add six unique beers that will make you realize there is life beyond (add domestic beer name here).
